I’m celebrating something HUGE! My brand-new book, Sacred Embers, co-authored with my dear friend Laila Briar, is now live!

It all began with a conversation in my mystery school group. Laila admitted to feeling unwanted and unlovable at the age of 53, and wondered whether this meant the end of her sexual identity. My response was: “Nobody but you ever gets to decide whether or not you’re finished being a sexual person.”

That conversation became a book. For one year, Yule to Yule, Laila and I wrote in real time through the cyclic lens of the Wheel of the Year – exploring beauty, sensuality, identity, and purpose through the eight sabbats and the feminine archetypes they hold, from Maiden to Goddess.

Society has been feeding us the narrative that aging for women means becoming less – less beautiful, less desirable, less vital, less relevant. Sacred Embers exists to reclaim the truth: life does not diminish us with age – it deepens us.

This is your time to become more yourself than you’ve ever been. And if you’ve ever wondered whether your best years are behind you, know this: they are just beginning!

Sacred Embers is available worldwide on Amazon, on Kindle and in paperback.

If you’re wondering about the timing of this book launch, it was partially accidental, as that’s when the edit happened to land. But it was also partially planned for August 8th, the energetic peak of the Lion’s Gate Portal.

The occultist in me holds little stock in this modern, mostly made-up, cosmic event. But there is a real cosmological, astrological, and numerological case underneath it worth knowing about.

Its Origin Story

The Lion’s Gate tradition traces back to Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. Thousands of years ago, the ancient Egyptians noticed how it would disappear for roughly 70 days each year. Then, when it reappeared, the Nile flooded – and this flooding meant the agricultural season would succeed. So, they deified the star. And Sirius became Sopdet, goddess of renewal, luck, wealth, fertility, and spiritual wisdom and her return became the official beginning of their new year.

But the Egyptian calendar differed from ours. For them, Sirius’s return occurred in mid-July, not August. And depending on where you are in the world, Sirius’s aligned rising with the sun at 15 degrees Leo can fall days before or after August 8th.

It’s also interesting to note that although we officially celebrate Lughnasadh on August 1st, solar Lughnasadh – the exact midpoint between summer solstice and fall equinox - doesn’t arrive until the sun reaches 15 degrees Leo. This year, that’s August 8th.

Astrology and Numerology

Astrologically, Earth’s alignment with Orion’s Belt is said to create a cosmic axis connecting us to higher-dimensional frequencies, thereby making Divine guidance and manifestation easier to receive.

Also, Leo season is ruled by the sun, its natural home, making this one of the most vital periods of the astrological year. This year Jupiter, the planet of abundance, is in Leo too. That combination alone makes this time energetically potent.

In numerology, eight symbolizes power, ambition, balance, karmic cycles, achievement and manifestation. So with August being the 8th month by the Gregorian calendar (even though it’s the 5th season of the zodiac), and the Lion’s Gate peak falling generally on the 8th day, this is why people imagine it to be auspicious.

One last observation about the numbers: 2026 is a one year (2+0+2+6=10, then 1+0=1). The number 1 signifies new beginnings, independence, and fresh starts. Numerologists see the combination of 8/8 occurring within a one year as especially supportive for beginning work aligned with your personal power and purpose.

The Egregore

Whatever its origins, the fact that so many people have poured intention and energy into it, the belief itself has become generative. It may even have become an egregore – an entity sustained by the thoughts, emotions, and energy of all those who believe in it.

So, I launched my book into it.

Don’t miss out on any of the magick!

This week beyond the mysterious paywall, the foundational magick teachings continue… until we reach the sign of Virgo on August 23rd and jump into the element of Earth and begin the process of our personal alchemy.

Today, we are taking our discussion of the elements to their next level: correspondences. Understanding how everything fits together is where practical magick begins.

I am a fully initiated Hermetic Adept who has been working within the Western mystery tradition for more than 20 years. If you are ready to begin transforming your life, this is your invitation to join me now inside The Portal.
