Good Mornings Only
…Day 24/30
One of the best things I do for myself is simply to wake up with the sun. No alarms ever. Mornings are sacred to me, and being summoned from the unconscious depths by some blaring monstrosity? The PTSD alone would never be worth it.
Once awake, I also take time before actually rising, to reflect on whatever I happened to be dreaming of. Simple and peaceful, right? But of course, it never lasts long, because as soon as the furry rascals hear me stir, they begin demanding breakfast. And once I’m in the kitchen, that’s when all the choices (for good or bad) begin… coffee or healthy herbal beverage? Workout, scrolling on the couch or straight to the computer?
These mornings, I usually go with a creamy chicory drink and the couch. But as I am scrolling, if I am beset by any guilt, I simply remind myself that I’m a Manifesting Generator (Human Design) and we lot do our best work through being inspired by something or someone else. And the Inter-webs are full of inspiring stories to respond to.
Sometimes I also pull cards and journal. Though more often than not, I just get to work on my content or programs. Morning is my most naturally creative period, so this is really perfect for me.
Whatever happens throughout the rest of the day, my early routine is generally fixed. I essentially start with self-nurturing – doing all the things that feel good and get me moving in the right direction, before getting down to practicalities.
Journaling whenever I feel the need gives me a chance to stay on top of my mindset, which is so important. As an entrepreneur, one of the hardest things, I find, is staying positively motivated if things aren’t working out exactly as hoped for. It’s really easy to fall into negative thought patterns when I’m not on top of it. Personal writing always lifts me up and helps me start the day strong and with purpose.
Every morning is an opportunity for a new beginning - an easy psychological reset. Choosing to put down whatever didn’t work for you yesterday, and not bringing it into today. A semi-clean slate which affords us the gift of possibility. The chance to do things differently - to shift an outcome, to see things afresh. And this magick begins daily, from the moment you open your eyes.
